This book is "Here is Japan Vol. 1," a Japan guidebook for foreigners published in 1963 by Asahi Broadcasting Corporation. In anticipation of the Tokyo Olympics in 1964, it introduces the post-war recovery and economic development of Japan, as well as the attractions of various regions across the country, through 366 pages of text and illustrations, to promote visits from foreigners. The illustrations are particularly noteworthy, created by Hiroshi Manabe. He is a representative post-war designer known for his illustrations and essays, including illustrations for the novels of Hoshi Shinichi and Yasutaka Tsutsui. In this book, he has included numerous illustrations, mainly guide maps, from colorful works depicting the four seasons to symbolic illustrations that tell the story of Japanese history and culture, making it almost like an illustration book by Hiroshi Manabe. The cover design, which evokes the red Hinomaru (national flag), is by Yoshio Hayakawa. This is an artistic book that encapsulates the creative charm of Japan. The text is in English.
