Brand History

Eri Utsugi debuted at Tokyo Collection with the brand "mercibeaucoup," from 2006-2007 AW.

About mercibeaucoup,

mercibeaucoup, is a Japanese fashion brand established by designer Eri Utsugi. It belongs to A-net Inc. (ZUCCa, mercibeaucoup, Ne-net, etc.), which is part of the Issey Miyake group.

Eri Utsugi graduated from the Joshibi University of Art and Design, Department of Clothing Design. She studied fashion design at ESMOD JAPON and Studio Berçot (France).

After returning to Japan, she worked as a designer for several companies, including Yuit Co., Ltd. (Issey Miyake's sales and wholesale company), but temporarily left the fashion industry, working part-time jobs. In 2000, at the age of 35, she joined BIGI and returned to the fashion world. In 2001, after joining BIGI, she established FRAPBOIS. In late March 2005, she resigned as the designer of FRAPBOIS.

In 2006, with the backing of A-net, a group company of Issey Miyake Co., Ltd., she launched the new brand "mercibeaucoup,". Mercibeaucoup is French for "thank you very much." The brand concept of mercibeaucoup, is "pure, fun, and beautiful." "It's neat but a little funny, it has a statement but isn't pretentious," and it presents designs that are down-to-earth and playful. The brand name embodies the desire to "cherish the feeling of gratitude and never forget it."
